END OF TIME – NEW BEGINNING – by Barry Hilton – 38 pages -Carbon Dioxide (CO2), CO2 absorbs wave lengths longer than 12 microns. CO2 is a catalyst for cloud absorption due its
heating effect. This give a positive feedback in temperature, thus amplifying the effect in cloud formations. High clouds trap more heat than is reflected back to space, therefore warming the Earth. Low thick clouds reflect more heat back to space than they absorb, therefore cooling the Earth. 56% of all CO2 generated by burning hydrocarbon fuel since 1800 is still in the atmosphere and accounts for 80% of global warning.

Description

Excerpts: My message to those in authority is to remind them that they are part of this human
society with family of their own. What happen to us globally—happens to you.
It is time to put survival ahead of profit and make your first responsibility the people, flora
and fauna of the planet — not the corporations! Only then can we survive.

Pre 1800, the concentration of CO2 was 280 PPM = 586 Gigatons of carbon (not including oxygen).
In 1958 the level was 315 PPM, and in 2000, this increased to 380 PPM = 795 Gigatons of carbon.
In 2006 it was approx 400 PPM. 500 PPM is considered the threshold quantum climate change and
therefore the threshold point of no return. To limit CO2 to 500 PPM in future all CO2 emissions
must not exceed 6 gigatons per annum. This is compared to 13.2 gigatons per year during the 1990s
( a half of which was from hydrocarbon fuel burning). This will be a difficult target as population
growth is expected to increase to 9 billion by 2050.
